Sermon Manager 1.3 Released!
Yesterday, a big update to Sermon Manager was added to the official WordPress repository. Here’s a few the new features:
New Settings Page
Now you can enable/disable the Bible verse popups provided by Bib.ly and choose the version that is displayed. You can also change the title and url of your sermons archive page. What else would you like to see added to the plugin settings?
Images Everywhere
You could already add images to sermon series & preachers, but now you can add them to sermon topics and individual sermons as well. You can look at the templates in the /views folder to see how to use these images in your theme.
Translation Ready
Take a look in the /languages folder for the .pot file so you can localize the plugin.
New Shortcode to Sort Sermons
[sermon_sort_fields]
It will add a couple of dropdown selections to quickly navigate to all sermons in a series or by a particular speaker. It can be used anywhere in your theme that supports shortcodes. The sort fields are now included in the archive page already.
Styling for the Recent Sermons Widget
Now your recent sermons have a microphone icon displayed. Several other styles were added/improved.
Easier Way to Customize your Theme
There are three new functions that you can use in your template files. You can see them in action in the template files in the /views folder.
render_wpfc_sermon_single();
render_wpfc_sermon_archive();
render_wpfc_sorting();
What’s Next?
Documentation! I won’t be adding anymore features to Sermon Manager until some documentation is available. Of course, if any bugs come up those will be fixed as soon as possible!
Your Feedback
Let me know what you think & any features you’d like to see added/improved. My goal is for Sermon Manager to be a great tool for churches of all sizes to publish sermon media on their WordPress site.

July 24, 2012hi jack, great work on everything so far with this amazing plugin!! :D rebuilding a new website for a church atm… looking to know once you do your next major release that you could maybe add a ‘preacher/series/sermon thumbnail image’ (as known in a normal wordpress layout of posts) to the display of, for example, when showing all sermons. Exactly like the way a featured image would look when you display a list of posts.
not sure how to explain it better but hopefully you know what I mean…
Thanks! :D

July 24, 2012The latest version is here: http://www.wpforchurch.com/2116/beta-release-of-sermon-manager-with-podcasting-support
You can attach featured image to each sermon & the image will be displayed however your theme normally displays them.

August 17, 2012Hi! I run a small company which specialies with webdesign for churches through wordpress. I really like the sermon manager plugin, and liked it. Is it possible, or how can i add the Norwegian bible into the bible passages, i guess its not done in 5 minutes. Is it possible?
Jack
August 17, 2012I’m not sure of a web service that would allow popups for a Norwegian Bible. If you can find a plugin that will work for you language, just disable the popups in sermon manager’s settings.
