Sermon Manager Sneak Peek

sermon-menu

Here’s two quick screenshots of the revamped add new sermon page:

And the sermon files section:

If you have been using Sermon Manager, then you’ll notice a few slight differences. First of all, hopefully the layout is a little more pleasing to the eye. In the sermon files section, there are a few significant changes. When you add a new MP3 file, there is no need to copy and paste the url anymore. Just upload your file and then click “Use as location of MP3″. Much easier! I also added an additional field called “Sermon Notes”.

Next Step: Improve the front end display for easier theme integration!

Do you have the source code available on GitHub by chance?

Will you be adding support for additional bible versions in the new Sermon Manager? I’d really like to see NASB added and I notice that Bib.ly does have NASB.

Really looking forward to it Jack!

Sure, I’ll take a look at what Bib.ly offers and make sure it is added to the plugin options.

Development was delayed last week b/c of our VBS. I hope to have the new version out by this weekend!

Looks great. Will this re-write still support all the meta data the current one does (Preachers, sermon series, topics etc.?)

    • Jack

Absolutely, rewriting it is mainly because I’ve learned alot since I first wrote Sermon Manager. I want to give it a cleaner look, improve the code, and add a few great features.

    Hi Jack,

I’ll put in for the New Revised Standard Version or New International Version if possible, since you are still updating–Thank you!

    • Jack

I did already check into this, but Bib.ly only supports a few versions for popups: “The popups currently only offer the following versions: ESV, NET, KJV, and LEB. We’re working on making more available soon.” http://bib.ly/

Thanks for checking ! I can use the KJV .

Go to Settings → Permalinks and resave your permalinks.

thanks for your quick reply. I got it to work. But I have another question (sorry i would sign up as a member but I think these issues should work out of the box).

On any of pages with sermons or the main sermon page (list of sermons), there is a menu list (vertical) of all the pages on my site. This menu doesn’t show up anywhere else on the site (may not be the theme). Do you know what is causing this? Thanks

    • Jack

      Hey Jason,
It is really all dependent on your theme, the 1.5 release is going to have many improvements for displaying sermons. For now, you’ll need to edit the files in the /views folder of the plugin to fit into your theme.

This looks like a nice plugin. However, I don’t see anything in the documentation that explains the initial setup or what the fields are for in the settings. Specifically, how does one go about identifying the URL for a “sermons” page?

    • Jack

There’s no initial setup required. The settings page just allows you to change the defaults. I hear you on the lack of documentation though. It’s something that will get better!

Thanks Jack. I think I understand. So I just need to create the sermons page and insert the shortcode and the plugin will automatically upload the sermon to that page right?
