Free Church WordPress Theme: Antioch

Be sure to check out our themes

ChurchThemes is a brand new entry to the WordPress church theme marketplace. Antioch is my favorite of their offerings so far.  The soft blues of the color scheme make this design very attractive  and professional looking.  The design is available in three different editions:

  • FREE edition – Seriously, you can download a beautiful WordPress church theme free! It is fully functional, but doesn’t include some advanced features available in the paid version. For the low-cost of free, you are on your own for support and you must visit their website for theme updates.
    Price: Free!
  • Standard edition – Here you get lifetime access to support, free upgrades, and some great “Advanced Features” (listed below)
Price: $29 with 30 days support
  • Developer edition – All of the above plus the PSD files and a plain HTML version.
Price: $49 with 30 days support

Here’s a quick run down of the features:

  • Gorgeous home page slider that is easily updated
  • Three widget areas on the home page to easily put your important content front and center
  • Shortcodes to add a button or insert a video
  • Clear, legible fonts
  • Theme Options panel to customize some aspects of the theme
  • Sidebar creator and manager – makes it easy to have different widgets appear in various sections of the website
  • Publish and Manage Sermon Media (Advanced Feature)
  • Easily Publish your Sermons as a Podcast in iTunes  (Advanced Feature)
  • Receive Tithes and Offerings Online via PayPal or EasyTithe  (Advanced Feature)
  • Create Directories of People (such as Staff, Pastors, Small Group Leaders, etc.)  (Advanced Feature)
  • List and Manage Multiple Church Locations/Campuses  (Advanced Feature)
  • Easily Display Tweets in your Sidebar  (Advanced Feature)
  • Get Free and Automatic Theme Updates from within the WordPress Admin  (Advanced Feature)
  • You can also get lifetime support for an additional $45.

I like the look of these themes and I have tried downloading several of these themes and cannot get any of them to install. Get errors like:
Warning: fopen(/home3/covchurc/public_html/wp-content/themes/antioch_free2/style.css) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home3/covchurc/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4339

Glad to see more info on WP for churches.

      Hi Carl,
To resolve the problem you simply need to unzip the file downloaded from churchthemes.net, it contains a pdf help document and a folder with plugins along with the actual zipped theme folder.
      Hope that helps!

Thanks Jack. I will try that and see if it works, I had been doing it through the WP dashboard.

Thanks, Jack. We had a lot of inquiries about this issue and we changed it so now Free Edition themes do not require unzipping.

Also, just another update, we’ve added some reduced pricing with $29 and $49 options now available. We are getting a lot of positive feedback, I hope your readers will feel the same!

Thanks again for all you do! Keep it up.

Thanks, Frankie, I did update the post now!

This might sound like a silly question… is the Standard version a one time $29 or is that $29per month? I like the look of it and need to present it to our board before I can do anything.

      Hi Melissa,
It is a one time fee.

How do you access/add slides to the slider on the free version?

    • Jack

There’s a new “Slide” post type in the menu

Just activated Church Pack as a plugin for my wordpress site. Now, I am having problems with my original homepage slider, main menu shows with no sub menus, and another slider shows all slides instead of slider with scrolling option. I deactivate Church pack and all is well again. I activate and have problems. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

How do I change the text “antioch theme” at the top of the webpage?

    • leah

It is an image so you go to the theme’s images folder and replace the text with what you want
