Using Events

You can easily add one-time, full day, multi-day, and recurring events. There are no complex options or kitchen sink type features that clutter most event plugins. To get started make sure that you’ve enabled events in the Church Pack Dashboard.

NOTE: Events are only available in the Pro version of Church Pack.

Adding Events

When adding a new event there are several additional fields in the “Event Details” box below the content editor. Within the content editor, you may add a detailed description of your event. You can also use any shortcodes from your theme or other plugins to create tabs, forms, payment links, etc.

In the right column, you can add a “featured image” for your event. Depending on your theme, this image may be displayed on the single event listing. In the “Event Details” box, you’ll find these options:
Location – Enter the location if necessary; e.g., Gymnasium, Building C, etc.
Address – If the event is off campus, you’ll want to include an address. Whatever is in this field will generate a Google map on the single event listing. Mark sure you enter the full address like this: 555 S. Main St, City, State ZIP.
Start Date – This is a mandatory field. Use the calendar to pick a date.
End Date – Leave this blank unless it is a multi-day event. This field has nothing to do with the recurring event functions.
Starting Time – Here’s where you can select the specific starting time for the event. There isn’t a field for an ending time so this should be noted in the description of your event.

That’s all you need to fill out for events that only occur one time.

Simple Recurring Events

For simple recurring events, you have two options:
Every week same day – For example, if the date you selected as the start date of the event falls on a Tuesday, then this event will be displayed on the calendar every Tuesday.
Every month same date – If this event is on the 15th, then it will be displayed every month on the 15th.

Advanced Recurring Events

If you need more control over the event recurrence, don’t select the previous options. Instead you have two extra options:
Advanced Recurring Interval – First, Second, Third, Fourth, Last. Do you have a Youth Meeting the 2nd Friday of every month? Select “Second” here and “Friday” for the next option.
Advanced Recurring Weekday – This is where you select which day of the week your recurring event takes place.

Displaying Events
